Basketball Preview: Harrisonburg Bulldogs vs. Rapides Mustangs
Harrisonburg is 0-3 against the Mustangs since January of 2023 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Harrisonburg Bulldogs will look to defend their home court against the Rapides Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. Harrisonburg will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Louisiana Rankings (they are ranked 351st, while the Mustangs are ranked 166th).
Harrisonburg's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight defeat. They were dealt a 63-27 defeat at the hands of Avoyelles Charter. Harrisonburg has not had much luck with the Vikings recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Ryan Fuqua, who scored 12 points. Laine Dupuis was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with 11 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Rapides scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They breezed by Alexandria Country Day on the road to the tune of 75-20. Rapides has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 matches by 21 points or more this season.
Harrisonburg has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-14 record this season. As for Rapides, their win bumped their record up to 18-11.
Harrisonburg took a serious blow against the Mustangs in their previous matchup back in January, falling 68-13. The match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Harrisonburg was down 34-10.
