Purchase Line is on a seven-game streak of home losses (dating back to last season), River Valley a seven-game streak of away losses (dating back to last season), but someone's luck is about to change. The Purchase Line Red Dragons will be home for the holidays to greet the River Valley Panthers at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday.
On Tuesday, Purchase Line was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 49-43 to Penns Manor.
Defeat or not, Purchase Line got some senior leadership from Brock Small who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and AJ Chambers who scored eight points. Those 12 points set a new season-high mark for him.
Meanwhile, River Valley scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They blew past Homer-Center 67-44. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest victory River Valley has managed all season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead River Valley to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jayden Whitfield, who scored 26 points along with nine rebounds. That's the first time this season that Whitfield pulled down eight or more rebounds. Dom Speal was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with six assists.
Purchase Line's loss dropped their record down to 0-8. As for River Valley, their win bumped their record up to 3-4.
Purchase Line might still be hurting after the 65-44 defeat they got from River Valley when the teams last played back in December of 2022.
