Baseball Recap: Enterprise Extends Winning Streak to Six

Enterprise had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16.6 runs) and they went ahead and made it six on Monday. They walked away with an 8-4 win over the Raleigh Lions. The Bulldogs have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Lions, too.

Ike McKelvain looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. He is becoming a predictor of Enterprise's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is 2-1 (and 5-8 when he doesn't).

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Brody Smith, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. What's more, he posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in February.

Enterprise pushed their record up to 7-9 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Raleigh, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Enterprise will welcome West Lauderdale at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Raleigh, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Raleigh Lions challenge Forest Bearcats at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
