Softball Recap: Hamilton County Comes Up Short

Hamilton County dropped their record down to 9-9 on Saturday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They came up short against the Union County Braves, falling 9-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Foxes have suffered since March 28th.

Hamilton County saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tinlea Webb, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

As for Union County, their win bumped their record up to 11-9. The result was nothing new for the Braves, who have now won seven games by eight runs or more so far this season.

On Union County's side, Peyton Jenkins looked comfortable as she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Jenkins has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Union County let Sydney Thomas and Aspen Davis run wild. Thomas went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI, while Davis went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Those three RBI gave Davis a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooklyn Tackett, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Coincidentally, Hamilton County and Union County will both be playing Trigg County the next time they take the field. The Foxes will head out to face the Wildcats at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, while the Braves will play them later in the day, at 2:00 p.m.
