Volleyball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for St. Paul's Episcopal

St. Paul's Episcopal had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They walked away with a 3-1 victory over the UMS-Wright Prep Bulldogs. For the Saints, this counts as revenge for the 3-2 win the Bulldogs walked away with the last time they faced one another back in September of 2024.

St. Paul's Episcopal had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 23-25, 25-19, 25-17, 25-17.

St. Paul's Episcopal had a senior duo take command as Kendall Dougherty had 18 digs and three aces and Lula Payne had 15 digs and one assist. Those 15 digs set a new season-high mark for Payne.

St. Paul's Episcopal was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 14 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least eight aces in six consecutive contests.

St. Paul's Episcopal's victory bumped their record up to 18-11. As for UMS-Wright Prep, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three matches and leaves them with a 16-8 record.

Looking ahead, St. Paul's Episcopal will face off against Cottage Hill Christian Academy at 10:00 a.m. on Friday. As for UMS-Wright Prep, they will challenge Saraland at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
