Baseball Recap: Pahrump Valley Has No Trouble Against Sunrise Mountain

Pahrump Valley got themselves on the board against Sunrise Mountain on Thursday, but Sunrise Mountain never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Miners with a sharp 13-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Trojans, who have now won ten matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Andrew Zurn was a standout: he scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits he has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Vinny Whitney, who went 1-for-3 with four RBI and one run.

Pahrump Valley hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in three consecutive games.

Pahrump Valley is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-5-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Sunrise Mountain, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-9.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pahrump Valley will square off against Sports Leadership & Management at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Sunrise Mountain, they will face off against West Valley at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The Mustangs will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Miners surely won't give up without a fight.
