Volleyball Recap: Academy of Science and Innovation Gets the Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Rockville, Academy of Science and Innovation was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They walked away with a 3-1 win over the Cheney Tech Chargers. The victory continues a trend for the Ravens in their matchups with the Chargers: they've now won four in a row.

While Academy of Science and Innovation might've won, it sure wasn't easy: Cheney Tech scored at least 18 points in every set they played. The final score came out to 25-18, 21-25, 25-22, 25-23.

Chase Stanek paced Academy of Science and Innovation's offense, picking up seven kills. Stanek got some help from Demareon Taylor and his 20 assists. Taylor also made an impact serving: he shared the team lead in aces with Marcus Ortiz, racking up two apiece.

Academy of Science and Innovation's win bumped their record up to 4-6. As for Cheney Tech, they are on a 19-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-7.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Academy of Science and Innovation will take on Windsor at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Cheney Tech, they will welcome Woodstock Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
