Baseball Recap: Westfield Takes a Loss

Zionsville hit Westfield with a seven-run fourth inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Shamrocks came up short against the Eagles, falling 11-3. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-5 on Thursday.

Nick Fero was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. Jake Russell also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Westfield has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-8 record this season. As for Zionsville, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-6.

Westfield has already played their next game, a 4-0 victory against Greenwood Christian Academy on the 12th. As for Zionsville, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, an 8-0 win against Lincoln-Way East on the 10th.
