Volleyball Recap: Widefield Takes a Loss

Widefield lost against Coronado back in October of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Gladiators came up short against the Cougars, falling 3-0. The Gladiators have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

Widefield was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Coronado work for it, especially in the second set. The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 28-26, 25-23.

Despite the defeat, Widefield saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Leila Brown had 14 assists and eight digs. Brown is on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 13 or more in each of the last nine games she's played.

Widefield's loss dropped their record down to 11-5. As for Coronado, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-11.

When Widefield and Coronado next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. The Gladiators will try to stop Palmer's four-game winning streak when they meet at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Coronado will take on Canon City and their three-game winning streak at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
