The Caldwell Academy Eagles will square off against the Carlisle Chiefs at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Caldwell Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.8 runs per game this season.
Westchester Country Day hit Caldwell Academy with a nine-run sixth inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Eagles came up short against the Wildcats, falling 10-4. The Eagles haven't had much luck with the Wildcats recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.
Jack Pearman was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed five innings while giving up three earned runs off only two hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in April of 2024.

At the plate, Neal Swindell was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Caldwell Academy is 5-1 when Swindell posts two or more runs, but 4-13 otherwise.
Meanwhile, Carlisle had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They never let the Eagles get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory. The Chiefs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by nine runs or more this season.
Casey Thomas made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with four stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 1.1 stolen bases per game.
In other pitching news, Cole Scarce and Luke Carter dominated on the mound. Scarce went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run, while Carter went 1-for-2 with two runs and one triple. Scarce is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.
Back at the plate, Mason Wood was excellent, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. Ben Wood was another key player, earning one RBI, one run, and one stolen base.
Carlisle always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .517. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive games.
Carlisle pushed their record up to 8-5 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Caldwell Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 9-14.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Caldwell Academy has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Carlisle struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.6 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
