Basketball Game Preview: Challis Vikings vs. Rockland Bulldogs

The Challis Vikings and the Rockland Bulldogs will compete for holiday cheer at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Challis is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.4 points per game this season.

It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 69-37, which was the final score in Challis' tilt against Watersprings on Saturday. The match marked the Vikings' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Defeat or not, Challis got some senior leadership from Jacen Farr and Jayden Sheppard. Farr posted 14 points, while Sheppard earned seven points. The dominant performance also gave Sheppard a new career-high in blocks (two).

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Rockland). The stars were shining brightly for them in a 63-46 win over Butte County on Tuesday. The victory was familiar territory for the Bulldogs who have now won three contests in a row.

Rockland pushed their record up to 5-1 with the win, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.2 points per game. As for Challis, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-4.

Challis skirted past Rockland 60-57 when the teams last played back in February of 2018. Will Challis repeat their success, or does Rockland have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
