Baseball Recap: Dunellen Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Dunellen, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They had just enough and edged out the Piscataway Vo-Tech Raiders 2-1. This was a revenge game for the Destroyers: when they faced off against the Raiders back in April, they had to take a 9-5 loss.

Ryan Hutchins was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with four stolen bases and one run. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.

Hutchins wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Kristhan Roman Lopez, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one run.

Dunellen has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record this season. As for Piscataway Vo-Tech, they now have a losing record of 10-11.

Coming up, Dunellen will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Somerset Tech at 4:00 p.m. Piscataway Vo-Tech does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
