Football Recap: Palmer Terrors vs. Coronado Cougars

Palmer unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They had to suffer through a 41-3 loss at the hands of the Coronado Cougars. The Terrors lost against the Cougars in their previous head to head back in August of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 25-20 score last time.

Jaiden Vills threw for 31 yards on two of nine attempts. Messiah Rogan was his top target, picking up 26 receiving yards. On the ground, Kymani Dotson rushed for 53 yards.

Coronado's win on Friday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Thomas Buckmiller, who threw for 310 yards and four touchdowns while completing 78.3% of his passes. The dominant performance also gave Buckmiller a new career-high in passer rating (159). Lyrik Smith was in the mix as well, providing Coronado with two scores.
