Basketball Recap: Combs Takes a Loss

Combs lost against Eastmark back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Combs Coyotes fell 63-50 to the Eastmark Firebirds. The Coyotes have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

When it comes to explaining why Combs lost, don't look at Logan Tuckfield. Despite the final result, he almost dropped a double-double with 11 points and nine boards. Tuckfield also grabbed three steals, which is notable because Combs is 3-1 when he posts at least three steals, but 9-11 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Quinmetris Cunningham, who posted ten points and six rebounds.

Even though they lost, Combs smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in seven consecutive games.

Combs' loss dropped their record down to 12-12. As for Eastmark, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a massive bump to their 16-9 record this season.

Combs didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 53-38 defeat against ALA - Gilbert North on the 11th. As for Eastmark, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 58-54 loss against Poston Butte on the 11th.
