Basketball Preview: Sierra Stallions vs. Pueblo Central Wildcats
The Sierra Stallions and the Pueblo Central Wildcats will face off at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. Sierra will come in still looking for their first win of the season.
Sierra is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Pueblo County on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Sierra had to suffer through a 66-19 loss at the hands of Pueblo County. The Stallions were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-13.
Meanwhile, Pueblo Central was able to grind out a solid victory over Fountain-Fort Carson on Friday, taking the game 68-61. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Wildcats.
Sierra better focus on containing Tayvon Evans and Ladamien Davis as the pair were huge in Pueblo Central's win. Evans posted 23 points and five rebounds, while Davis had 14 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals. Evans' evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Darrin Hemphill, who put up nine points.
