Manitou Springs took a three-set defeat the last time they faced off against Florence, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Mustangs sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over the Huskies on Tuesday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Mustangs as it spelled an end to their three-match losing streak.

Manitou Springs had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first two sets, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 23-25, 21-25, 25-22, 25-18, 17-15.

Gracie Esterline had a dynamite game, getting 19 digs and two aces. That's the most aces she has posted since October 2nd.

Esterline wasn't the only good servers: Manitou Springs was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 15 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in seven consecutive matchups.

Manitou Springs' win bumped their record up to 9-12. As for Florence, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-13.

Looking ahead, Manitou Springs will head out on the road to take on Thomas MacLaren School at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Florence, they will be taking part in a tournament against Custer County at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday.
