Football Game Preview: Momence Momence Athletics vs. Salt Fork Storm

The Momence Momence Athletics will challenge the Salt Fork Storm at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Momence will be strutting in after a victory while Salt Fork will be coming in after a defeat.

On Friday, Momence made easy work of Iroquois West and carried off a 28-7 win. That's two games straight that the Momence Athletics have won by exactly 21 points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Momence to victory, but perhaps none more so than Erick Castillo, who threw for 227 yards and three touchdowns while completing 76% of his passes, and also rushed for 67 yards. Castillo also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, making two total tackles (1.0 for loss) and defending one pass. Eddie Ferreira was Castillo's top target, picking up 108 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.

Meanwhile, after some red-hot attacks on offense in their last three contests, Salt Fork finally came back down to earth on Friday. The matchup between the Storm and Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin didn't end well, with the Storm falling 19-3. The game marked the Storm's lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

The victory made it two in a row for Momence and bumps their season record up to 2-3. Those wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 29 points in those games. As for Salt Fork, they moved to 3-2 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Momence was able to grind out a solid victory over Salt Fork in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, winning 28-21. Do the Momence Athletics have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Storm turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
