Baseball Recap: Dimmitt Has No Trouble Against Friona

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Ropes, Dimmitt was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Friona Chieftans with a sharp 21-2 win. The result was nothing new for the Bobcats, who have now won four contests by eight runs or more so far this season.

Rudy Fuentes was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over 4.2 innings pitched. Fuentes was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. He has become a key player for Dimmitt: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 2-3 otherwise.

In other batting news, Kaden Carpio was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Dimmitt is undefeated when Carpio posts two or more runs, but 1-3 otherwise. Jaden Rodriguez was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

Dimmitt kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in March of 2024.

Dimmitt's victory bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Friona, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-10.

Coincidentally, Dimmitt and Friona will both be playing Shallowater the next time they take the field. Dimmitt will host Shallowater at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, while Friona will head out to face them at 4:30 p.m. on March 18th.
