Preview: Anahuac vs. Livingston
Anahuac is 0-5 against Livingston since January of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Anahuac Panthers will be staying on the road to face off against the Livingston Lions at 7:00 p.m. on February 13th. Anahuac will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 619th, while Livingston is ranked 274th).
Anahuac fell victim to East Chambers' stalwart defense on Monday and couldn't make it onto the board. They suffered a tough 4-0 loss at the hands of the Buccaneers.
Meanwhile, Livingston had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.2 goals), and they went ahead and made it seven on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Hargrave and snuck past 2-1. That's two games straight that Livingston has won by exactly one goal.
They were led to victory by the tag-team duo of
Claire Reitan and
Davalos Ytzel, who scored both of Livingston's goals. The pair have combined for a total of four so far this season.
Anahuac has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-4 record this season. As for Livingston, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-2-1.
Anahuac might still be hurting after the 3-0 defeat they got from Livingston in their previous meeting back in March of 2023. Can Anahuac avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
