Basketball Recap: Mechanicsburg Takes a Loss

Mechanicsburg was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They fell 56-46 to the Newark Catholic Green Wave.

Newark Catholic's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Madison Hampton, who went 5-for-8 en route to 11 points in addition to six boards and four steals. Those 11 points gave Hampton a new career-high. Sophie Chard Peloquin was another key player, putting up 13 points.

Mechanicsburg's loss dropped their record down to 14-9. As for Newark Catholic, they have been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season.

Mechanicsburg does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Newark Catholic, they will challenge West Jefferson at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. West Jefferson will roll in looking for their ninth straight victory, something Newark Catholic surely won't give up without a fight.
