Softball Game Preview: Batesburg-Leesville Panthers vs. Saluda Tigers

A feisty cat fight will be fought as Batesburg-Leesville Panthers duke it out with Saluda Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Batesburg-Leesville has struggled recently with five defeats in a row, while Saluda will arrive with 11 straight wins.

Friday just wasn't the day for Batesburg-Leesville's offense. They lost 16-0 to Pelion on Friday.

Meanwhile, Saluda made easy work of Westwood on Saturday and carried off a 13-7 victory. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by six runs or more this season.

The team relied heavily on Ava Martin, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and five RBI. Maricarman Sanchez was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-2.

Saluda always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .567. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Westwood only posted an OBP of .417.

Saluda's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-3. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Batesburg-Leesville, their loss dropped their record down to 2-6-1.
