Softball Game Preview: Stephenville Yellow Jackets/Honeybees vs. Graham Steers

Stephenville is 2-7 against Graham since April of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Stephenville Yellow Jackets/Honeybees will venture away from home to square off against the Graham Steers at 5:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

Having struggled with four defeats in a row, Stephenville turned things around against Maypearl on Friday. Everything went their way against the Panthers as they made off with an 11-1 win.

Kodi Thompson was incredible, going 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Meg McGregor, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Thompson wasn't the only one working in the home run department: Stephenville lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Graham). They never let Seymour get on the board and left with a 15-0 victory on Monday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Steers with their most commanding win of the season.

The win (which was Graham's third in a row) raised their record to 6-8. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Stephenville, their record now sits at 11-7-1.

Stephenville couldn't quite finish off Graham in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 and fell 3-1. Can Stephenville avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
