Basketball Recap: Wahoo Snaps Five-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

Wahoo blew Raymond Central out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Thursday Raymond Central got their revenge. The Wahoo Warriors fell just short of the Raymond Central Mustangs by a score of 29-27. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Warriors have suffered since January 23rd.

Loss or not, Wahoo got some senior leadership from Gracey Fairbanks and Gretchen Seagren. Fairbanks posted six points and six boards, while Seagren earned five points along with eight rebounds and six blocks. Seagren is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted two or more in each of the last 21 games she's played.

Raymond Central found their leader in sophomore Kenzie Teneyck, who scored ten points and three steals. Another player making a difference was Savannah Masek, who had six points.

Wahoo's defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-10. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 24.4 points over those games. As for Raymond Central, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 20-4.

Wahoo does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Raymond Central, they will face off against North Bend Central at 7:00 p.m. on February 28th. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (North Bend Central has won seven straight at home, while Raymond Central won five straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
