Basketball Game Preview: Deerfield Beach Bucks vs. South Plantation Paladins

The Deerfield Beach Bucks are taking a road trip to square off against the South Plantation Paladins at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Deerfield Beach is headed into the game having just suffered their closest defeat since December 14, 2023 on Tuesday. They fell just short of Stoneman Douglas by a score of 58-56.

Meanwhile, South Plantation came up short against Cypress Bay on Tuesday and fell 58-45.

Deerfield Beach will need focus on slowing down Franco Domine, one of several South Plantation players who made an impact when they last played. He posted nine points and six rebounds. Those nine points gave Domine a new career-high. Gabe Collier was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Deerfield Beach has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-4 record this season. As for South Plantation, their loss ended a six-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 11-5.

Things could have been worse for Deerfield Beach, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 65-47 loss to South Plantation in their previous meeting back in January of 2024. Thankfully for Deerfield Beach, Harry Gelin (who went 7 of 11 on his way to 23 points along with seven boards and six steals) won't be suiting up this time.
