Football Recap: Crenshaw Piles Up the Points Against Dymally

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Crenshaw). They breezed past the Dymally Challengers to the tune of 34-6 on Monday. With the Cougars ahead 20-0 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.

Crenshaw's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Rashi Avery-Smith, who rushed for 115 yards and one TD on only five carries. Those 115 rushing yards gave Avery-Smith a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ahmani Bell, who gained 108 total yards and a touchdown.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Crenshaw was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 292 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Crenshaw didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Nevaeh Bell, Taliyah Sugar, and Za'Karia Wade picked up one apiece. Sugar got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Crenshaw has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-4-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 6.3 points on average over those games. As for Dymally, their loss dropped their record down to 0-4.

Coming up, Crenshaw will challenge Hawkins at 2:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Cougars 9.6, the Hawks 12) so any points scored will be well earned. As for Dymally, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 25-6 defeat against Fremont on the 22nd.
