Preview: Homestead Spartans vs. McCutcheon Mavericks
The Homestead Spartans and the McCutcheon Mavericks will face off at 1:00 p.m. on February 10th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Homestead is coming into the game hot, having won their last six games.
Homestead extended their postseason success on Saturday against Columbia City. They came out on top against the Eagles by a score of 57-49.
Meanwhile, McCutcheon sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 51-49 win over Harrison on Saturday. Given McCutcheon's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 43rd, while Harrison is ranked 142nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
McCutcheon can attribute much of their success to Braelyn Williams, who scored 18 points, and Lillie Graves, who scored 18 points along with eight assists and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Williams has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Kalea Washington, who scored two points along with 15 rebounds.
Homestead's victory bumped their record up to 22-4. As for McCutcheon, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 21-4.
