It was fun while it lasted, but Vienna's undefeated season came to an end after 13 games on Saturday. They took a 71-66 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mt. Vernon Rams. The Eagles lost against the Rams in their previous head to head back in December of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 77-31 score last time.
Kamaree Pollard continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Mt. Vernon, going 7 of 12 en route to 30 points along with eight rebounds and six assists. The dominant performance gave Pollard a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Melaina Zedalis, who went 6 of 12 on her way to 14 points and four steals.
Having lost for the first time this season, Vienna fell to 13-1. As for Mt. Vernon, the win was the tenth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-1.
Vienna will be taking part in a tournament against Carlyle at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Carlyle is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 61.3 points per game this season. As for Mt. Vernon, they will take on Civic Memorial in a tournament on Monday. Civic Memorial will roll in looking for their 15th straight victory, something Mt. Vernon surely won't give up without a fight.
