Hammond Academy of Science & Tech owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Wednesday. Everything went their way against the Whiting Oilers as they made off with an 8-0 win. Considering the Hawks have won six matches by more than seven runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Noah Michniewicz made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over seven innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Austin McKimmy was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with four stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. He has been hot, having posted two or more stolen bases the last six times he's played. Anthony Concepcion was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with four stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Hammond Academy of Science & Tech always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .590. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .512 or higher in five consecutive contests.

Hammond Academy of Science & Tech's record now sits at 8-1. As for Whiting, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-11.
