Baseball Game Preview: Waterford Wolverines vs. Beloit Memorial Purple Knights

The Waterford Wolverines will take on the Beloit Memorial Purple Knights at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Beloit Memorial took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Waterford, who comes in off a win.

On Saturday, Waterford narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past New Berlin Eisenhower 2-1.

Meanwhile, while it was Beloit Memorial who put the first runs on the board on Thursday, it was Elkhorn who put up more. The Purple Knights came up short against the Elks, falling 17-7. Even though they lost, the Purple Knights' still made a splash at the plate and bumped their average scoring up to 6.1 runs per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).

Owen West and Callen Espinoza stepped up to the plate in a big way. West got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, while Espinoza got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one double and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Tayvon Cates, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

Waterford is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Beloit Memorial, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-6.

Waterford took their win against Beloit Memorial in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 13-3 score. Will the Wolverines repeat their success, or do the Purple Knights have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
