Basketball Recap: Southern Wake Academy Takes a Loss

After flying high against St. David's on Friday, Southern Wake Academy came back down to earth. The Lions took a 63-54 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Grace Christian Crusaders on Saturday. The Lions were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Crusaders apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

Despite the loss, Southern Wake Academy still got an impressive performance from Kobe Plata, who went 7-for-10 en route to 23 points along with five assists and three steals. Plata is crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Tony Lopez, who posted 11 points.

Caleb Ellis had a dynamite game For Grace Christian., dropping a double-double with 13 points and 12 boards. Grant Jacques was another key player, shooting 67% from the field on his way to 14 points.

Southern Wake Academy's record now sits at 3-3. As for Grace Christian, their record is now 5-3.

Southern Wake Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 68-23 win against Excelsior Classical Academy on the 2nd. As for Grace Christian, they will take on GRACE Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
