Basketball Recap: Calvary Baptist Academy Skates Past Mingo Central with Ease

While Calvary Baptist Academy didn't have the best season last year (they finished 11-17), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They blew past the Mingo Central Miners 81-40 on Saturday. The Patriots have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matches by 25 points or more this season.

Calvary Baptist Academy had a senior duo take command as Matthew DeGroff dropped a double-double on 21 points and 12 boards and Bryson Childers went 9 of 17 on his way to 23 points and eight boards. Childers' evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brady Good, who went 5 of 11 on his way to 15 points.

Calvary Baptist Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in nine consecutive contests.

Calvary Baptist Academy's victory bumped their record up to 8-1. As for Mingo Central, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-2.

Calvary Baptist Academy will take on Sissonville at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
