Los Altos is 0-10 against Los Gatos since March of 2019 but things could change on Wednesday. Los Altos will be playing in front of their home fans against Los Gatos at 4:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Los Altos 2.1, Los Gatos 3.2) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Los Altos' pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 6-0 margin over Pioneer. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won three contests by six runs or more so far this season.
The result came thanks to Aaron Baum's shutout, as he gave up just four hits and racked up ten Ks. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in walks (zero).
On the hitting side, Darrion Wesley was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Kai MacQuiddy, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one double.
Los Altos was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .357 or higher in three consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Los Gatos might've scored the first runs on Saturday, but it was Hollister who claimed the real prize. Los Gatos lost 9-3 to Hollister.
Los Gatos also got a good showing from Nicholas Olcott, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Olcott has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.
At the plate, Los Gatos saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hudson Schrader, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one RBI.
Los Altos' win bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Los Gatos, their loss dropped their record down to 7-3.
Los Altos came up short against Los Gatos in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, falling 7-3. Can Los Altos avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
