Softball Recap: Elyria Catholic Picks Up Ninth Consecutive Win

Elyria Catholic strolled into their game on Monday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They put the hurt on the Beaumont School Blue Streaks with a sharp 12-0 win. The game marked the Panthers' most dominant victory of the season so far.

Kailey Tomasch and Harper Morgan were a major factor no matter where they played. On the mound, Tomasch tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Morgan didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. At bat, Tomasch scored two runs while going 2-for-4, while Morgan scored a run while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave Morgan a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Nadia Pagan, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. She continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Lillian Ciryak, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Elyria Catholic always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Beaumont School only posted an OBP of .167.

Elyria Catholic's win was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-0. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 10.1 runs this season. As for Beaumont School, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Elyria Catholic will host Holy Name at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Panthers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Green Wave have averaged an impressive 10.1 runs per game this season. As for Beaumont School, they will be playing at home against Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
