Basketball Recap: South Mountain Has No Trouble Against Kofa

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Cesar Chavez, South Mountain was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They enjoyed a cozy 68-53 victory over the Kofa Kings.

Kaedience Koronich had an outrageously good game as he almost dropped a double-double on 23 points and nine rebounds. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in steals (four). Another player making a difference was Omari Hollin, who posted seven points along with five boards and three steals.

South Mountain smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in four consecutive matches.

Kofa's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Luis Negrete, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. Christian Curiel was another key player, putting up ten points in addition to six boards and three blocks.

The win was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 6-16. As for Kofa, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-15.

South Mountain didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 101-79 defeat against Camelback on the 6th. As for Kofa, they have also already played their next contest, a 59-43 loss against Lake Havasu on the 6th.
