Basketball Recap: Unity Christian Takes a Loss

It was a good run, but Unity Christian unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Friday. They were outmatched by the Faith Christian Falcons and fell 55-26. Sadly, that's the third time they've come up short against the Knights this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 42-28 back in December of 2024.

Despite the loss, Unity Christian still got an impressive performance from Emily Merema, who posted 11 points along with eight rebounds and five assists. Merema has been hot, having posted eight or more boards the last five times she's played.

Faith Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Gwen Hodson led the charge by going 7 for 12 on her way to 15 points and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Royer, who earned 11 points and five assists.

Unity Christian's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-5. As for Faith Christian, the win was the 15th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 20-2.

Unity Christian will be playing in front of their home fans against Tri-State Christian at 5:00 p.m. on January 24th. Faith Christian has already played their next matchup (against Morning Star Academy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
