Baseball Game Preview: Edisto Cougars vs. Swansea Tigers

A feisty cat fight will be fought as Edisto Cougars challenge Swansea Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Edisto 4.1, Swansea 3.1) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Edisto fell victim to Barnwell and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Warhorses by a score of 2-0. Having soared to a lofty 12 runs in the game before, the Cougars' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Meanwhile, after a string of five wins, Swansea's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They took a 9-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of Fox Creek.

Swansea got a good showing from Alex McFarland, who tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. McFarland has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Jacob Hair was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 1-for-3.

Edisto's defeat dropped their record down to 8-4. As for Swansea, their loss dropped their record down to 12-2.

Edisto came out on top in a nail-biter against Swansea in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, sneaking past 5-4. Do the Cougars have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Tigers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
