Softball Recap: Huntingtown Takes a Loss

If Huntingtown was riding high fresh off their 14-0 takedown of North Point on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Hurricanes fell just short of the Calvert Cavaliers by a score of 2-1 on Wednesday. The Hurricanes were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Cavaliers earlier this season, when they won 13-2.

Jordyn Greever spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on seven hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Huntingtown saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kayla Ripple, who went 2-for-4 with one RBI.

Huntingtown's loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 10-1 and their overall record down to 10-2. As for Calvert, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-3.

Huntingtown has already played their next matchup, a 21-0 victory against Westlake on the 25th. As for Calvert, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 2-1 win against North Point on the 24th.
