Basketball Recap: Seven Straight Road Victories for Mildred

After losing to Kerens the last time they met, Mildred decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Mildred Eagles enjoyed a cozy 55-40 victory over the Kerens Bobcats on Thursday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Eagles.

Mildred was led to victory by Brennan Moore and Caleb Harper. Moore dropped a double-double with 22 points and 14 boards, while Harper posted 15 points in addition to seven rebounds and four steals. The dominant performance gave Harper a new career-high in points. Ashton Moore was another key player, putting up six points along with seven boards and six assists.

Mildred smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in 12 consecutive matchups.

Mildred's win was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-8. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.4 points over those games. As for Kerens, their defeat dropped their record down to 22-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mildred will venture away from home to take on Axtell at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Mildred's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 12 contests. As for Kerens, they will head out to challenge Marlin at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Marlin will roll in looking for their 14th straight victory, something Kerens surely won't give up without a fight.
