Basketball Recap: Lincoln Southwest Silver Hawks vs. Bellevue West Thunderbirds

Lincoln Southwest was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They fell 63-52 to the Bellevue West Thunderbirds. If the Silver Hawks were looking for revenge after losing 57-51 to them when the teams met back in March of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Despite the loss, Lincoln Southwest still got an impressive performance from Eleanor Griffin, who posted 15 points and eight rebounds. That's the most boards Griffin has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexis Gutknecht, who put up nine points.

Reitsma continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Stevie Harley was another key player, dropping a double-double with 12 points and ten rebounds.

Lincoln Southwest's record now sits at 14-6. As for Bellevue West, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-8 record this season.

Coming up, Lincoln Southwest will face off against Omaha North at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Lincoln Southwest has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Bellevue West, they and Bellevue East will meet in a classic East v. West matchup at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Bellevue East will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something Bellevue West surely won't give up without a fight.
