The McDowell Trojans will face off against the General McLane Lancers at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. McDowell is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.1 runs per game this season.
McDowell's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They blew past Erie 18-0. The high-scoring effort was just what the Trojans needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.

Mya Kaliszewski and Alex Smith did most of the damage at the plate: Kaliszewski went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles, while Smith went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those three RBI gave Kaliszewski a new career-high. Ayva Mickel was another key player, going 2-for-4 with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: McDowell kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, General McLane didn't have quite enough to beat Meadville on Tuesday and fell 6-4. The defeat continues a trend for the Lancers in their meetings with the Bulldogs: they've now lost six in a row.
Makayla Rapela made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs. That home run was her first of the season.
McDowell is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for General McLane, their loss dropped their record down to 2-5.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. McDowell has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like General McLane struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
McDowell got the 'W' when the teams last played on Thursday against General McLane by a conclusive 12-5 score. Do the Trojans have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Lancers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
