Basketball Game Preview: Starmount Rams vs. South Stokes Sauras

Starmount is 1-9 against South Stokes since November of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Starmount Rams will welcome the South Stokes Sauras at 7:45 p.m.

Starmount is headed into Tuesday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their eighth straight game on Thursday. They took a blow against Elkin, falling 76-34. The game marked the Rams' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

The losing side was boosted by Sean Gregory, who posted 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Corey Armstrong, who had four points and 12 rebounds.

Meanwhile, South Stokes came tearing into Thursday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 21.7 points) and they left with even more momentum. They enjoyed a cozy 65-51 win over the Cardinals. Given the Sauras' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 90th, while the Cardinals are ranked 405th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

South Stokes' victory was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-2. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.8 points per game. As for Starmount, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-12.

Starmount was taken down by South Stokes 70-37 in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. Can Starmount avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
