Basketball Recap: Zoe Schmookler's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Bartram Trail over Nease

After flying high against First Coast last Monday, Bartram Trail came back down to earth. The Bartram Trail Bears took a 31-24 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Nease Panthers on Wednesday. The game marked the Bears' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Bartram Trail's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Zoe Schmookler, who posted five points along with six rebounds and six blocks. Those six blocks gave Schmookler a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Miranda Campos, who had five points in addition to six boards and three steals.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Nease to victory, but perhaps none more so than Casey Eliason, who put up seven points and nine rebounds. Sage Pytel was another key player, putting up four points and ten boards.

Bartram Trail's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-7. As for Nease, their record now sits at 10-11.

Bartram Trail didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 53-25 victory against Riverside on the 31st. As for Nease, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 57-49 win against Hilliard on the 30th.
