Volleyball Recap: National Cathedral's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Thursday

It was a good run, but National Cathedral unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-match winning streak on Thursday. They fell just short of the Episcopal Maroon by a score of 3-2. If National Cathedral was looking for revenge after losing 3-0 to Episcopal when the teams met back in September of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

National Cathedral actually scored more points across those five sets (111-107), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The match finished with set scores of 13-25, 25-21, 26-28, 28-26, 15-11.

National Cathedral's loss came despite strong showings from Dina Leigh and Kennedy Williams. Leigh had 13 assists and six digs, while Williams had 27 kills, 16 digs, five aces, and two blocks. Williams is on a roll when it comes to kills, as she's now had eight or more in each of the last eight games she's played.

National Cathedral suffered their first road defeat, dropping their record down to 15-3-1. As for Episcopal, their victory was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 5-8.

When National Cathedral and Episcopal next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. National Cathedral will try to stop Georgetown Day's seven-game winning streak when they meet at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Episcopal will challenge Paul VI and their three-game winning streak at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.
