Basketball Recap: Isaac Rivas' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Lehman over Hays

Lehman was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 54-50 heartbreaker at the hands of the Hays Hawks. The Lobos lost against the Hawks in their previous head to head back in February of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 68-40 score last time.

Lehman's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Isaac Rivas, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 13 rebounds. That's the most rebounds Rivas has posted since back in December of 2023. Rolando (Rj) Luna was another key player, going 6 for 12 on his way to 16 points.

Lehman's record is now 6-16. As for Hays, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 10-15.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lehman will face off against Lockhart at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Hays, they will challenge Cedar Park at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
