It's playoff time, and Centennial had no trouble coming through when it counted. They won a game that couldn't have been any closer, slipping by the Mater Dei Monarchs 28-27. Winning may never get old, but the Huskies sure are getting used to it with their tenth in a row.

Dominick Catalano had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 44 yards and a pair of touchdowns, while also throwing for 289 yards and one TD. That's the most passing yards he has posted since back in August. 95 of Catalano's passing yards were hauled in by Ty Plinski.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Centennial's defense and their five sacks. The team can thank two different players for their defensive prowess: Hayden Zentner and Miles Schirmer, who each picked up 1.5 sacks apiece. Zentner was another major factor on D, picking up 1.5 sacks and making nine total tackles (2.0 for loss).

Mater Dei lost on Friday despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Ryan Hopkins, who threw for 194 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Centennial's victory bumped their record up to 11-1. As for Mater Dei, they moved to 8-3 with that defeat, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

Looking ahead, Centennial will challenge Santa Margarita at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Eagles' defense has only allowed 12.6 points per game this season, so the Huskies' offense will have their work cut out for them. Mater Dei does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
