Steeleville suffers third straight loss on the road

The Steeleville Warriors suffered their biggest loss since November 15, 2023 on Tuesday. They were outmatched by Sparta on the road and fell 52-20. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Steeleville has scored all season.

Emma Mulholland was Steeleville's leading scorer, having posted nine points. Rylan Reiss took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with three assists.

Sparta found their leader in underclassman Liberti Johnson, who scored 21 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Johnson has scored all season. Kenzie Pierce was another key contributor, scoring six points along with six steals and five rebounds.

Steeleville's defeat was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 7-9. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 27.7 points per game. As for Sparta, their victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-11.

Steeleville will take on Johnston City at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Sparta, they will head out on the road to square off against Wesclin at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday. Wesclin is coming into the contest hot, having won their last five games.
