Softball Game Preview: Osage Green Devils vs. Newman Catholic Knights

Osage is 0-10 against Newman Catholic since June of 2016 but things could change on Monday. The Green Devils will square off against the Knights at 6:00 p.m. Osage is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.

Osage can't be too worried about heading out to take on Newman Catholic: they just beat Riceville at home, who had been dominant on their own field up to that point. The Green Devils were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Wildcats on Saturday. The Green Devils might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matchups by six runs or more this season.

Meanwhile, Newman Catholic made easy work of St. Ansgar on Friday and carried off a 10-2 victory. The Knights are also no stranger to big wins: their blowout was the seventh contest they've won by 6+ runs this season.

Newman Catholic's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-1. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 6.1 runs. As for Osage, their victory bumped their record up to 13-0.

Osage couldn't quite finish off Newman Catholic when the teams last played back in June of 2024 and fell 4-2. Can the Green Devils avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
