WPIAL A Big Seven recap September 17, 2013

The biggest upset of the week belonged to Union Area, who defeated 274th ranked Rochester, 33-0. Anthony Rush threw for 71 yards in the win.

The Scotties moved up to 264 from 376 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in WPIAL A Big Seven. Union Area was able to make move up by beating the Rams 33-0.

Joseph Serventi was the most successful running back in the league this week. In 32 carries, he ran for 105 yards as Our Lady of the Sacred Heart lost to Shenango. Tom Marra also contributed to the rushing game with 12 yards on the ground.

Rush put up the best numbers in passing as Stacy Robinson's team topped Rochester.

Block was the best receiver in the league this week as the Rams lost to the Wildcats. Block tallied 4 receptions for 23 yards.

Serventi provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Chargers fell to Laurel.

Leading WPIAL A Big Seven in both passing and receiving yards, the Spartan's Josh Dando and Clayton Sharek have proven to be a lethal combination. 6-4 quarterback Dando has thrown for 244 yards this season, while Sharek has 4 catches for 108 yards. Hunter Roknich from Western Beaver leads the league in rushing with 313 yards.

The Golden Beavers are currently in fifth, while the Scotties are in second.

Shenango was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from ninth to sixth in the league. Mike Commesso's team defeated South Side 17-6 earlier in the week.
