Football Recap: Tanner Austin's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Sunrise Mountain over Canyon View + How To Watch

Sunrise Mountain was the 23-7 winner over Canyon View when they last played one another back in November of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Mustangs lost 44-24 to the Jaguars on Friday. Despite 71 more yards than the Jaguars, the Mustangs couldn't convert that extra yardage to scores.

Several Mustangs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Tanner Austin, who picked up 184 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns. Austin really caught the secondary sleeping when he pulled down a catch that went for 72 yards. Austin Butler was another key pass catcher, picking up 97 receiving yards and one score.

Among those leading the charge was Brady Scott, who threw for 150 yards and three TDs. What's more, he racked up 26 rushing yards, the most he's had since back in September of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Braylon Anderson, who picked up 42 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Sunrise Mountain now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Canyon View, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sunrise Mountain will venture away from home to face off against Arizona College Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Canyon View, they will head out to square off against Chaparral at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
