Baseball Recap: Southeast Halifax Comes Up Short

If Southeast Halifax was feeling good fresh off their 18-2 takedown of North Edgecombe last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Trojans came up short against the Warren County Eagles on Tuesday, falling 21-11. The Trojans have struggled against the Eagles recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost meeting.

Arthur Joseph Jr. and James Bullock stepped up to the plate in a big way. Joseph Jr. scored a run and stole five bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances, while Bullock scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Bullock has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last seven times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Shamare' Jackson-Banks, who scored a run and stole three bases while getting on base in both of his plate appearances.

Southeast Halifax's loss dropped their record down to 3-7-1. As for Warren County, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-3.

While Southeast Halifax had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
